At Yarra Medical Centre, our standard consultation length for new patients is 20 minutes, and 15 minutes for existing patients. As we establish a relationship with our patients, the consultation time may be reduced to 10 minutes. To ensure the best possible medical care, we send out a medical survey before your appointment so that our health professionals can understand the reason for your visit.

  • What does out of pocket fee mean?
    The "out of pocket fee" in refers to the portion of the medical expenses that is not covered by Medicare or private health insurance, and must be paid directly by the patient.

    It's the difference between the total cost of medical services and the amount reimbursed by medicare/insurance.
  • How do I get my Medicare rebate?
    The full practice fee is to be paid on the day of appointment, and the clinic will process your rebate claim for you.

    The rebate will be transferred to the bank account you have nominated on your MyGov account within 24 hours of your appointment.

    If you bring your physical bank card (not amex or credit card), you will receive the rebate immediately after payment.

Cervical Screening
Cervical screening (previously known as a pap smear) is a procedure used to detect changes in the cells of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. It is done to detect potential signs of cervical cancer, which if found early, can be treated successfully.
Skin Tag Removal

Skin tag removal is a minor procedure to remove small, benign skin growths, commonly found on the neck, underarms, or other areas where skin rubs against skin. There are various methods for removing skin tags, including, cutting them off with surgical scissors, or burning them off with electrical energy (electrosurgery). The method used depends on the size and location of the skin tag and the preference of the individual and their healthcare provider.
Mole Removal

Mole removal is a procedure to remove moles, which are usually brown or black growths on the skin that can be raised or flat. Moles can be removed for cosmetic reasons, or if they are suspected of being cancerous or precancerous. Mole removal can be performed through surgical excision, shaving, or ablation (removing tissue with heat or a chemical agent). The method used depends on the type, size, and location of the mole and will be recommended by a healthcare professional.
Implanon Insertion
Implanon is a long-acting, hormone-releasing birth control implant that is placed under the skin of the upper arm. It is a highly effective method of birth control and can last up to 3 years. Our health professionals are experienced in Implanon insertion and will ensure a smooth and safe procedure.
Implanon Removal
Once the 3-year life of Implanon has been reached, or if you wish to discontinue its use, it will need to be removed. Our health professionals are experienced in Implanon removal and will ensure a smooth and safe procedure.
Whooping Cough
Whooping cough (also known as pertussis) is a highly contagious bacterial infection that affects the respiratory system, particularly the nose and throat. At Yarra Medical Centre, we offer vaccination against whooping cough to help protect against the spread of this disease.
